Shaving enthusiast Pieter Fourie fell in love with wet shaving, and as many do, ventured into the deeper end by not only acquiring loads of gear, but also took an additional step into shaving heaven by producing two soaps in his spare time. We really enjoy his soaps, and we sure hope there are going to be a few more in the near future. His soaps have soft bases and score high points on all the requirements we have for a great shaving soap. They have a great appearance and fit the bill of modern trends in terms of texture, softness and colour, pair that with a nice wide tub and you have a winner!
Salem is a soap that came into creation as a much needed soft shaving soap that can be used with the ever-popular Old Spice aftershaves. I am yet to pair it with all the available options, but I did try it with Old Spice Slugger, and the soap and aftershave paired up like Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward! As with modern Old spice, the fragrance is well balanced, not to heavy and will please a host of consumers. The soap attracts to the brush very quickly, so the lather will be creamy and in abundance if you leave your brush slightly wetter than normal, otherwise load it up quicker or add a few drops of water where needed. If you are a 'sucker for sheen' this one needs to be in your cupboard.
