Shaving enthusiast Pieter Fourie fell in love with wet shaving, and as many do, ventured into the deeper end by not only acquiring loads of gear, but also took the additional step into the world shaving by producing some soaps in his spare time. His soaps have soft bases and score high points on all the requirements we have for a great shaving soap. They have a great appearance and fit the bill of modern trends in terms of texture, softness and colour, pair that with a nice wide tub and you have a winner!

The VIP has a sweet, spicy, manly essence, with woody and boozy elements, the fragrance is modern and one has already been grabbed by my daughter who gifted it to her boyfriend on Valentines day, a sure indicator that the young set is finding it a hit. The fragrance is medium to strong and sits on your skin for quite some time after initial use. after use

The ingredients are H2O, Coconut oil, castor oil, Palm oil, Beef tallow, Stearic Acid, Goat milk, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Xanthan gum, Shea butter, Cocoa butter, Mango butter, Apricot kernel oil, Flax hemp oil, fragrance oils and Lanolin

The soaps weigh around 160 to 180 grams in the tub.

Really had higher hopes

First off, the good news:
The soap smells great. The scent really does create that mental image of a luxury lounge with leather chairs and sweet pipe tobacco wafting through the air.

Glide, residual slickness and post-shave feel are all great as well.

The bad news:
Even while using a boar bristle brush, I could not get this soap to lather up, no matter how much water I added or how much I loaded onto the brush and tried to face lather. It just remained a relatively thin application on the skin without foaming up as other soaps do.

Conclusion:
If I'm not mistaken, it seems like Pieter Fourie might not be actively making shaving soaps anymore. If Jaco could get ahold of him and get permission to use this soap's scent, I think it would be a great addition to Bundubeard's own tallow-based lineup. There's still an empty space waiting for a scent like this.

Top notch soap

Guys do yourselves a favor and get this soap. The description on the soap is spot on and I can add that it lathers easily and provides good slickness and has a wonderful post shave feel. The scent strength is just right not too strong. This soap is a step up from my US soaps. Vip Lounge and Spicy Passage is my go to soaps.
