What do you know! a Strop at the same price as the few drafts of beer you have during a world cup rugby game (braai part not included!) If you want to get into straight razor shaving as cheap as possible this leather and canvas strop is as good as it gets. Use the canvas side to strop a few strokes prior to doing laps on the leather, you'll have to start slow on this one and learn the X-stroke technique, but done slowly it is quite simple to master. It is wise to get a hang on your stropping routine with this strop before investing in a premium quality strop, damage to one of those will have you cry your eyes out! Size 490 mm x 62 mm inclusive of the fittings, the stropping surface is approximately 330 mm.
This strop is wider than our previous 50 mm econo strop, and is wide enough to take the entire edge of smaller razors and Kamisoris, as seen on the photo. We also love the fact that the leather is thin and pliable, making it a fantastic travelling strop. Thicker stops could crack when folded, and those are normally quite cumbersome to travel with, so even if you have great stops, this one is a must have. The stop has a medium-heavy draw and the leather surface is nice and flat, taking very nicely to the blade shape as it is more flexible than most. I suspect the draw will get lighter with lots of use, but I quite like the feedback I get from this strop in its new condition.
The total weight of the strop is 130 grams.
