This Whacker is an upgrade from our basic range as the blade is a bit more refined and we have added some cool scales made from exotic materials, thus the higher price ticket. The scales are made from Kudu horn bone that has been stabilized with black resin, they are held together by a Giraffe bone wedge. The wide, rough edged steel is 6 mm thick under the thumb, making the need for jimps to improve grip obsolete. The scales are quite wide at the pivot point adding lots of control as the scales offer lots of resistance between your fingers. The 52100 steel blade has a height of 28 mm and the razor weighs 105 grams, it has a quarter hollow grind with ample spine thickness that ensures this beast has lots of meat to work with, the razor is shave ready. Hardness is dialed in at 61-63 HRC.
The Bundu Whacker is range of razors that are meant to fill a void in the market, and as with many new product lines, cost to customer was the biggest criteria. Our main aim is to collaborate with Andre from Grobler Cutlery to produce a handmade razor for around 2-3 k. This model is a bit more refined as there are some folks who asked us to start producing razors with that are more than basic, something with a bit of flair if you will. As with all handmade items, time spent making them is the single biggest cost factor, and they are priced accordingly.
Look around under our African Black shaving brushes section, there may very well still be a matching brush for this cutter. It has a green brother also, to be listed soon!
Humidity is your razors's number one enemy, dry properly after use and oil when stored for prolonged periods or when in high humidity environments.
