This Gillette TV special was only made during the year 1954, and 1958 . The 1954 TV Special razor had a Gillette 1940's style Super speed design, it was a special limited edition re-release promoting the Gillette Cavalcade of Sports show . The 1958 version can be discerned from the 60's superspeed by the lack of banding on the handle, and straight knurled ridges down the length of the handle.
The Gillette Flare tip series is a razor that was manufactured from the 1950's up to 1960. It is a perfect razor if you want to get your hands on a bit of history without breaking the bank, as it is a razor that will work for first timers and experienced shavers alike. It will also suit guys with sensitive skin as this is a mild razor, its fairly small build gives it ease of handling when used against the grain for a closer shave. It stands 83 mm tall and weighs 56 grams.
The razor has a TTO (twist to open) function, enabled by twisting the 'Flare tip' anti-clockwise to open the doors, and clockwise to close the doors once the blade is loaded.
The razor has quite a bit of plate loss on the doors and bottom of the tray, but is rust free and will serve another century or longer if cared for.
