a German quality product. The 34c is rated as one of the most popular razors in the world today, and it is easy to 'feel' why, it is extremely user friendly, very durable, well balanced and compact. It has a lot of good qualities that appeals to a wide range of consumers. This razor has a chromed finish complemented with a lightly knurled handle. the razor disassembles similarly to other 3 piece razors, only with a longer shaft on the head, and with a dial on the bottom that is turned rather than the head or handle itself. 34C - A classic from Solingen

As a Merkur fan (starting out with Vision 2000 then onto Futur - both adjustables), this fixed beauty really delivers. A 2-piece razor, the blade loading is easy; allignment is spot-on; balance is perfect; easy maneuverability comes with a short handle; patterned handle provides positive grip; the chrome finish pops; and in the looks-department, it's as retro as it is classic. 007 would use one. But wait... he does; his trusty Hoffritz made by, you guessed it... Merkur.

The 34C has around since before WW2, where German tooling has remained consistent throughout the decades. This is one razor you'll use and cherish for years to come and perhaps pass it on to the next generation.

Medium shave - yes. The forgiving safety bar-to-blade ratio distance setting means it's near impossible to nick oneself. A shallow learning curve. Perfect companion to your travels (from Limpopo to Istanbul on the Orient Express); equally good at home on the display shelf. I challenge anyone to recommend a better tool of trade for those embarking down their first wet shave experience.
