When I first used this blade, I thought wow what a great feeling blade. I have to test it fully before I can give an opinion.
Blades are really a subjective component of the save routine. So a little background first to give a bit perspective. I use a Rockwell 6c on plate 6. I have sensitive skin and get ingrown hair from a haircut!! I can only do a two pass shave ( face with and across grain and neck 2x with grain). I mainly use bundubeard tallow soaps. My beard is not soft but not really hard, an average type and I shave every 2nd or 3rd day.
This blade is very sharp, maybe a tad less (or maybe not) than the benchmark feather blade, but unlike the feather, this blades feels so smooth on the face with no alum sting or irritation. The feedback on the skin is just perfect, making you appreciate the wet shaving experience!
This feeling and continued for 5 shaves! At the 6th shave I had to really concentrate to note the tad drop in sharpness but still felt so good! This again continued and after 10 shaves I could feel there is a clear drop in sharpness. Very slight irritation at shave 10. Decided it time for retirement after that.
I got 10 shaves from this blade!!!! Compared to the feather which feels horrible on my face after 3 shaves, this is brilliant.
R79 for 10 gives you R7.9 per blade and R0.79c per shave. Not bad at all.
A feather is R29 for 5 which is R5.8 per blade and R1.93 per shave (3 shaves). You can see how this is a brilliant blade (on my face).
There are blades out there that are cheaper that performs well that might be a bit less sharp but still feels good. The supermax diamond edge is a prime example. I get 7 shaves per blade that feels smooth but not as sharp. They are R 12 for 5, R2.40 per blade and R0.34 per shave.
In the bigger scheme all these prices are still very low compared to consumer razors.
This is my new favourite blade! Worth the price!
