Apart from our close shaving needs there is the need to trim hair, goatees and beards to longer lengths and styles, and you may also need to cut a huge volume of hair every once in a while. I for one use a clipper quite a bit and fairly often run it over my head when I feel like a good ol' brush cut. While your traditional WAHL clippers that have been passed down for generations will do a proper job, they do get lost, are quite heavy and the need to always sit near an electrical wall socket may have you in the market for a similar tool.
Battery tech and more efficient design has delivered tools that are lighter and easier to use, a cordless tool also has extended function as it can be used anywhere and at any time. These clippers will charge from zero to hero in 2 hours, and you can pop them into most USB slots to enable USB-C charging, we all have many devices that will make for quick and easy charging when the need arises.
Once charged the clippers will provide 2 hours plus worth of use, and the LED will flash red if it needs a fresh charge, charging will be indicated by a solid red LED, and fully charged status by a white LED. It is recconmended to charge your clippers every 6 months when not used regularly, as with all battery powered devices storing it in a fully loaded condition will prolong the life of the LI-ION battery.
Your WAHL is definately more sturdy than these modern clippers, but this is not a machine that will cut hair day in and day out, so for personal use a lighter, cheaper and cordless unit makes a lot more sense.
These clippers have an adjustable system that will cut the hair 0,8 to 2.0 mm long in varying the setting between the ceramic comb and the titanium blade, it also has 4 additional plastic combs that will leave lengths of 3 to 12 mm, so it is a bit more versatile than the WAHL as that only cuts 0,8mm and then jumps right up to the combs, starting at 3 mm; these clippers are great if you like a short beard in the 1 to 2 mm range.
Tip! Be careful when buying cordless clippers online, batteries are generally not allowed on airfreight, so your purchase may get grounded at the country you are importing from, even worse when you are shipping a bundle of goods as you may lose your entire haul. This is not a problem for units that are shipped from local companies, or ones that are powered by AC power motors/drives.
These are avialable in red and silver and they weigh 165 grams. They come in a box with a USB cable, small cleaning brush, oil, 4 plastic combs and an instruction booklet. This video has a pretty cool review on it, and is very helpful to show how to remove/replace the head, popping it off is quite simple, but a bit more tricky to get back on, so do pay attention!
There are negatives to this pair of clippers; with only 5 watts of battery power and no AC connection it will do you no good when you drop it in the bath when trying to commit suicide, but then again, some folks may see that as a great safety feature around pets, kids and selfdestructive nutjobs...
