The GT series of brushes from Omega were designed to celebrate some legendary automobiles, and I must say they did not stop at any specific aspect of the industry. This brush honours the Porsche 959, this car was legendary as it was the first 'car' to enter the rally scene and make waves. It was initially built to compete in class B with the Quattro and Lancia, but this class was stopped on account of some serious accidents before it could compete, Porsche still went ahead and carried on to produce the 'Supercar we all missed' and entered it into the Dakar to have a go at the tough stuff. I guess many models of many cars has a claim to fame, but the 959 just has soooooo many!
Luckily, the vivid coloured brush is not as scarce as the car itself, this one sold for R61 million almost a decade ago, and it was not even a 'famous' one! There were only 7 produced for the Dakar rally, and 337 in total, including the 37 proptotypes and pre production models. 'Raar maar waar'!
The 'Elite synthetic knot' is the latest technological advancement in the Omega synthetic fiber brushes range. The improved characteristics, such as the larger knot diameter, the special corrugations and the very fine tips makes this brush better performing and more pleasant to use. The knot, considerably larger than standard synthetic ones, develops a much more voluminous, creamy lather, making for a deeper, and more agreeable mechanical action on the skin.
This brush is nice and compact and creates the impression of a real powerhouse making for a good match of the 'legendary cars' theme, it has a 29 mm 'Elite' knot, weighs 94 grams, has a handle length of 54 mm and a loft height of 52 mm.
This simply screams 80's to me.
