The DE28 adds to our adjustable complement in the more affordable section of razor offerings. This razor has taken what Merkur has done with the Vision and multiplied that by 2 in terms of its 'weird and wonderful' shape and appearance. It is different in many ways, one being this razor has a cap with a threaded center portion that screws into the handle, rather than the door system that the Vision utilizes.
The bottom dail loosens the cap while the top bubble adjust the blade gap to give you a more gentle, or more aggressive shave. This razor starts out with a fairly large blade gap of 0.9 mm on the mild end of things, and opens its jaws all the way up to 1.9 mm on the 'take no prisoners' end of the scale. The blade position is also slightly positive, so you will need to handle this bad boy with care at the higher setting, it seems to have the ability to kick and bite!
Athough a two piece razor, the head disasembles easily by pressing the base and cap towards each other and turning the handle anti-clockwise, so occasional cleaning to prevent build-up is a breeze. The razor also has a magnetic base, this helps keep the newly loaded blade in place while you replace the cap.
The razor weighs 95 grams and has a solid feel to it, the razor stands 112 mm tall and is 52 mm wide on the cap, easily covering all parts of the blade apart from the working sides.
The razor comes in a craft box with 5 blades, and is available in 5 finishes.
