The DE9 is the Charmaine Gale/Weavers of razors, tall and lanky, well built, it will take you to great heights and loves to be cuddled. The hard chrome finish is available in white chrome, gunmetal and rose gold. and will last you many years if taken care of and used sensibly. It weighs in at 89 grams, and will use its weight to get rid of stubborn leg and face stubble, it is also one of the tallest razors around at 120 mm. It is a twist-to-open razor allowing for easy, quicker blade loading, and is classified as a mild razor, the extra long handle makes it a nice razor for those with long legs or huge hands.

These razors come with the option of a stand in a matching finish. We like these stands as they are of practical design; they have a synthetic liner within the alloy casting, effectively eliminating corrosion where two metal objects come in contact. This also prevents scratches to your razor that could occur when two metal objects are put to one another every so often. The stand has a drain hole in the casing that eliminates the build up of moisture, a great addition to this range of razors!

Nice for the price

This razor was my first entry into shaving with a DE razor. At such a low price point it is certainly one of the best choices for those on a budget.

Pros:
- Very cheap while still having a decent build quality and materials
- The butterfly mechanism works well and is easier, and less scary to use than something like a 3 piece razor
- The chrome finish glides across the skin easily

Cons:
- The balance feels a bit off for me. It feels like I have to hold the razor lower down than I would like in order for the razor to feel balanced in the hand.
- The "textured" grip is not quite enough to stop the razor from feeling very slippery
- The blade edge is not held particularly straight, which might be expected at this price. Not severe enough to cause major problems, but something to keep in mind.
- While the butterfly mechanism is easier to use, it could become a failure point for a razor as it has more moving parts.

While this razor served as a good entry point, the step up to a Rockwell has been enormous for me. I suggest going straight to a Rockwell 2C or 6C (same razor just different number of base plates) if you can afford it.

When starting out I thought I should just go for the cheapie, but I really underestimated how much of a difference the razor design can make to your shaving experience.

I only really recommend this razor if you are on a very tight budget.
