Drew & Sons was a British retailer known for high-end leather goods, travel items, and silver pieces, operating from premises at 33 Piccadilly Circus between approximately 1887 and 1914. It is highly likely that this is a Sheffield steel that has been branded for the retailer to sell as their own, the shape and the appearance of the razor is much 'nicer' then most retailers who had tsome razors branded for them, so they certainly wanted this item to slot in with their higher end products. There are a few smudges on the steel, but all in all it is very clean. The etching is quite deep, so the blade will be able to be polished to a high shine with a bit of elbow grease. We made some scales from African Blackwood and lines them with some red material, this was so long ago I cannot recall what type of material we used!

The razor is sharp and smooth, and the large, heavier blade gives it a fair bit of momentum for a fluid motion down the cheekbones and neck.

This razor weighs 60 grams and has a spine thickness of 5.4 mm, blade height of 19 mm or 6/8ths that delivers a bevel angle of 16 degrees, the bevel and spine is not perfect, but still looks good enough to brag with and is easy to maintain using one layer of tape on the spine. The razor has a quarter hollow grind, a barber's notch on the toe and crispy, fine jimping under the thumb, it feels nice and solid in hand.

*Vintage/rat razors are priced according to model and availability, time spent cleaning and reconditioning them, and also time spent getting the edge into a shave ready condition (some are preserved as is, or sold as is for the new owner to sharpen) Please enquire if you need additional work done to this razor prior to purchase.

All straight razors will require a stropping on leather after its first use. Pics are unedited (for detail) and provide a true image of the condition of the razor.

This razor is shave ready and good to use 'out the box'
