The DE 30 range comprehends a few razors that have a similar apperance offered in various grades of materials, types of opening mechanisms and individual features. We chose this range of razors for our shop as they are not widely available, are affordable and have fantastic finishing in terms of what you pay for. We also love the stylish look of these razors, and the workmanship on them is pretty impressive, they are a great fit for our reaching the big Three-O in our DE razor range, and we will be adding a few more options to this model every now and again, and we should soon enough have the range go up to DE 30.6 Bang! Should we make the last one 30-06?
We'll kick of with a bang with the DE 30.0 simply because we love stainless steel so much, and this one is a banger as it has now enetered slot number one in the cheapest stainless steel razor category on our site. This is a three piece razor and clocks in at a comfortable 88 grams in weight, and stands 105 mm high. The handle has a large knob at the bottom with a flat surface, so the razor stands by itself without the need for a stand if you want to dry/store it upright.
The machining on this item is very good, with very little wriggle when the base plate and cap are matched up. This one has a closed comb plate with the addition of some very sturdy teeth on top of that, this is pretty much as close as what you will get when you try and combine an open comb razor with a solid bar razor. The designers have done an immaculate job of tucking those 90 degree corners away with four profiled stops placed on each corner of the guard. Now the corners of the blade do not seat right behind it like with some other razors that have this arrangement, but it does depress your skin on the sides of the razor where the stops are positioned, minimizing chances of your zapping yourself while shaving, quite a clever design!
The razor has a stylish, durable, aggresive look to it, and it looks a lot similar to the well known Muhle R41 razor. When 'riding the cap' one hardly feels the teeth, while dropping the razor to a more aggresive angle results in the teeth making their presence known, this is also quite handy to find the sweet spot you shave at as your skin can 'tell you' via sensation where you are at angle-wise.
This razor comes with a hard silicone washer that protects surfaces where the handle and base plate meet, this is not only great for avoiding scratches on the shiny surface, but it will also help prevent corrosion. This chap should get a lot of attention for a lot of good reasons, well worth checking out.
The razor has quite a mild shave and is a great option for guys wit sensitive or problem skin, a single pass leaves your slubble slightly longer than most razors we sell, but a second pass across the grain had my cheeks smooth and shiny like two ripe, red cherries!
This is also the perfect collection for the OCD person, or someone that simply like things to look neat and organized, when you have these in a line-up the resemblence will be striking. Maybe we should start our own boxed breakfast cereal and gooi these in with a 'collect them all' campain?
