This is s new finishing effect we tried on this hardekool blank, a bit of handwork gives it the look of very old, weathered wood that have been preserved to retain its quality and integrity, this created a rustic, but stylish appearance. It offers good grip and a shape that is very comfortable for both bowl and face lathering, add to this the fact that it is made from one of our best African Hardwood species, a badger knot and is pretty cheap and you are set for miles of smiles.
Hardekool is one of the most dense timbers in the world, and makes a great shaving brush handle, it gets a lighter colour when used continually and left untreated, but a quick rub, wipe and buff with a wood cream or aftershave balm will have it back to deep, rich brown in no time at all.
The 22mm Black badger knot suits the look of the handle very well, and although not the finest badger hair, it does the job that is required of it.
It is a medium height brush with a elementary shaped handle, and weighs 80 grams, it stands a 125 mm high with a loft of 52 mm. It is 25 mm wide on the narrow waist and 38 mm on the foot, so make sure your stand is sized accordingly.
We set the black and mixed badger knots a bit deeper to avoid a floppy hairdo.
