Parker is a manufacturer from India that has been producing fine hardware since 1973, you can bet your bottom rupee you are in good hands if you pick one of their products. This is where performance, quality and value for money comes together in razor universe. Their razors vary from fairly conservative to outright Bollywood splendour, and boy do they ever have the moves!  Their shaving action ranges from mild to medium aggressive, so basically anyone can use them.

The Varient's claim to fame is adjustability at a price that cannot be beaten. Apart from that it has some pretty sterling looks, the 110 mm tall all metal monster tips the scale at 111 grams, one of the heaviest razors around, it's weight alone can strip a warthog's mane by using slight movements similar to swinging a magic wand. it has settings from 1 to 5, with one being the mildest, and five the most aggressive, there are of course many smaller possible adjustments between the 'numbers' and the one I checked out passes five and go right up to four again before the cap releases; a possible 'surgical skin removal' setting! As with most Parker razors, it offers great grip on the knurled handle, on this model slightly better grip is achieved on the adjustment knob which is nice and large. Apart from the dial's functionality it sits beautifully on our pinky finger when holding it in 'destroy whiskers' mode. It is a two piece razor with instructions added to the box, remember to align the sides with the marks on top and bottom when re-assembling after inserting the blade. We have it available in three pretty finishes, dainty and fair, hitting the highway and end of days. Pics of others to be added soon

Best shave so far!

I've owned an Edwin Jagger de89 and a Merkur 38c and this safety razor is miles ahead of those in terms of comfort, smoothness and ease of use. I typically have thick hair growth so the adjustable nature of the product makes it easy for gliding through thick patches of growth, and I only took it up to setting 3 as I am still testing the waters with this one. Happy with this product! I'll be using this one for quite a while.

Unsung Hero of the Adjustables

I have been watching reviews on the Parker Variant for several weeks and finally pulled the trigger after a serious case of RAD. I had my first experience with it today and I am most impressed !
I had the closest, most comfortable head and face shave in years thanks to this incredible de adjustable razor (Paired with a personna platinum blade with about 3 shaved in it ).
In fact I’m glad I only discovered this razor after several other acquisitions as it outshines my current razors, gillette slim adjustable and a Gillette black beauty and Merkur 15c. I prefer adjustable as I use it for face shaving as well as head and body. I enjoyed the fact that it was easy to find the exact blade cutting angle. It was almost intuitive as I first used it shaving my head before my face shave. It handled 3 days of hair growth with ease and the Drain slots drained and rinsed easily. I did the first pass on setting 3 wtg, 2 atg, and level 1 for pickup and final pass. I had no weepers and zero irritation. I’m simply amazed by this marvel of shave engineering. I loved the knurling and grip and the heft of of it. Weighs 110grams! I loved the graphite handle as the contrast looks great ! In fact it’s so easy to use I may just get the rose gold one for the Mrs.
Thank you to Jaco for exceptional service once again !

Review of Parker Variant

Good bang for buck ZAR wise.
Adjustable DE razor that (for me) is on the more medium+ side through the progressions.
Blade reveal equal on both sides.
No quality issues.
Weighty in hand.
I find the head a little “tall” for detail work under the nose.
Can mow down acres of growth before flipping / rinsing.

This was my first DE razor and still in use regularly. For a daily driver I prefer something milder / smoother and I find myself doing detail touch ups after my shave on occasion.

Overall this razor comes recommended.
