The year is 1652, and three ships lay anchor in Table bay on the Southern Tip of Africa, this landing will prove to have a huge impact on the course of the country, and will remain to do so for millenia to come. Just as this event have steered the course of a people, we anticipate this balm to steer the course of your shaving routine, this product is firmly focused on skincare, using the natural fats and butters in their purest form is key to good skincare, and we can only allow a certain amount of fragrance oils in this recipe. That being said, it certainly has a lovely scent profile which is unlocked when you warm up the product in the palms of your hands prior to application

Like the other ships, Reijger also had some traditional spice aboard, but it was also the main carrier vessel of the fruit and sweet stuff, and this is why a sweeter smell will waft into the air when you apply this balm over your rosy cheeks. Once again your input has the power to steer this ship, grab the oars, set the sails and man the whipstaff by letting us know your thoughts; More sweet, less sweet, add melons or oranges, maybe some rum or a shot of brandy...

This product is made right here in South Africa using only natural main ingredients sourced from small scale farmers and businesses. This balm is highly concentrated and is very economical, it contains no water, preservatives or chemicals, so a little goes a long way, a dollop as small as your pinky finger nail or less is all that is required to cover your entire face and neck area. If your skin looks too shiny or feels oily after massaging into your face and neck for 30 to 60 seconds, you are more than likely using too much, it is really that simple. Unlike most modern balms and aftershaves there are no liquids that will evaporate after application, whatever you apply is absorbed by your skin, feeding, protecting and nourishing it to a state of natural well being.

Use less product in the mornings and apply more liberally before bedtime. This balm can be used at any time and anywhere, so keep a few jars at home, work, in the sports bag and even in your car, use whenever you feel a bit ‘rough and dry’. The balm will also do an excellent job anywhere on your body where relief is required from burns, chafing, insect bites and dry skin.

The main ingredient for this series of balms is Highveld grass fed tallow that have been processed by using water from a narural source and coarse sea salt processed from a source in the Kalahari desert. Added to the tallow are some lovely plant oils and butters; Virgin cold pressed Olive oil from the fairest Cape, Shea butter all the way from Ghana, Beeswax and Propolis from Gauteng and a touch of cold pressed Coconut oil from beautiful Mozambique. Perfectly natural skin food.

The product has no colorants in it, texture and color (off white to golden yellow) is determined by the ingredients and oils used in the specific balm. The tallow and essential oils used both play a part, and texture can vary from smooth, hard and creamy to soft and airy with small particles of oils or fats in suspension.

The tub contains 100 ml of soothing goodness, refills will be available soon at around R100 bucks a pop, so hang on to your tin!

We are working on splash that will supplement this, and a few other balms. We will use Aloe Ferox as one main ingredient, ensuring it will deliver big time on skin care while allowing for a stronger fragrance profile in a liquid based product. Aloe Ferox is the BOSS of Aloe Vera, so Look out for this one, its going to be one that goes down in the history books!
