We have been honing razors for a while now, but only upon request and this presented a bit of an admin schlep. Have a bash at this new listing and let's see how it works, it is our first attempt to try and make it easier for you to keep your razors in good shape. Sending a few razors at a time is obviously best as the shipping fee will apply to the bundle of razors rather then one at a time.

If you send us your razor and will have it collected by your own means simply buy 'Hone razor to shave ready' and also choose the 'Collection' option when you get to the checkout page.

If you want us to collect and deliver, you'd add 'Collection of razor/s to be honed and also pay the relevant return shipping on this listing when checking out. You can obviously also choose to either collect or deliver yourself, or by using your courier, essentially the razor has to come to us and back to you by whatever means you prefer, choose accordingly.

Most folks will probably make use of the R300 honing service, add collection for R149 and then choose 2-4 day shipping on checking out, so a collect/hone/deliver service where we 'do all the work' would cost R 598.

I don't give myself our as some sort of guru, and have no wish to chase 'the perfect edge' on any one razor for hours on end, just to earn a few pennies; This service is simply defined as taking your blunt or tugging razor and giving it an edge that is sharp and comfortable enough for a good shave.  I have no aspirations to obtain (or create as some do) some sort of title such as 'Honemeister', 'Planet of the Apex' or 'Lord of the Steel'

The sharpness of any razor is something that is experienced very differently by each user, and for this reason we will refund the honing fee if you are not happy with it, shipping to and from the customer is for their account, we do this as we do not want to lose any clients on account of something as objective as 'sharpness' I like my edges smoother rather than sharper, a very sharp razor cuts your skin easier and could also give you razor burn if your technique is not spot on. I shave fairly quickly, so comfort with an edge sharp enough to do an entire shave without the need for stretching one's skin is the sweet spot for me, and that is the result you will get. Be sure to try the razor as you receive it, it will be stropped and ready to go.

If you want an additional service such as new scales or a refurb we will quote on that once the razor is in hand, you can then purchase these services in this listing as in denominations of R100. As an example; if we quote you R800 for a new pair of scales you would add three 'Extra work' items to your basket, R100, R200 and R500. Simple math.

We do get into the more technical and experimental side of things with customers, but this is mostly one-on-one, and tend to be conversational rather than a service rendered.

I am perfectly happy with my equipment and skill at honing your razor, so feel at ease about sending it our way, I will advice you should there be any issues with it that would require additional work/expenses, and if I am not happy with the resulting edge or the job is above my paygrade, we will also refund you.

There are a few 'razors' out there that we will not waste time on, so if unsure about the source or quaility of your razor make contact with us first, it not worth it sending scrap steel on a R600 road trip and not getting any value for that!

I hone stuff every week if need be, so honing only should take no longer than two weeks to and fro, if it is urgent let us know and we will try and accomodate you. We will mostly hone razors on our own honing system, falling back onto Naniwas, Shaptons and naturals should we for some reason not get the required results on our own system.

This service is only available in South Africa.
