'The Burt' is a series of production razors made by Jack Connan, the essence of the series is a tributory glimpse into one of the 'more manly men' Hollywood has made famous, Burt Reynolds. This cultural icon will always be remembered for movies like Smokey and the Bandit (1977), The Longest Yard (1974), and The Cannonball Run (1981) The connection to the razor is quite obvious, it not only serves the upper lip in service, but the tang also has that iconic downturned bull-horn points, much like the lip curtain Burt himself favoured at one stage!
The blade is a half hollow ground RWL34 with a machine finish , the scales are made from dyed and stabilised Japanese Maple burl with yellow G10 liners and hollow copper pins. The wedge is crafted from African Blackwood, and the blade is engraved with 'The Burt' on the one side, and the serial number on the opposite side of the tang. The pivot heads are stainless, and the fitment of them to the T6 Torx holes makes for a sturdy and uniform fit, if floppy blades or scales are a buzz kill for you, this type of fastening will have you smiling from ear to ear.
The blade has a height of 19 mm and the razor weighs 44 grams, it has a half hollow grind with a spine thickness of 4.2 mm that delivers a bevel angle of around 12 to 13 degrees.
There will be 150 razors in the range, so make sure you get a few if you like them. I think they will look great in a 7 day set, more so as their shape and form will be uniform across the rage providing much aestetic appeal.
